Arnold Clark
– Getting you to the heart of Scotland

The Gathering 2009 has teamed up with one of Scotland’s largest vehicle rental companies, Arnold Clark, to help you make the most of your time in Scotland. We are conscious of the affects of recent economic downturn and the cost of fuel in the UK, which we also know is of concern to many of you coming to Edinburgh next year. Therefore, thanks to Arnold Clark, we are pleased to offer visitors to The Gathering 2009 an exclusive discount on car rental.

Broadcast News!
Lord Sempill has not just been busy visiting Highland Games across the globe, he has also been hard at work in Edinburgh making people aware of The Gathering 2009, and may soon be appearing on a screen near you!

He was interviewed by reporter Rachel MacGregor with cameraman Leander Scott-Donelan, for a feature on Good Morning which airs on TV One in New Zealand. We are not sure exactly when this will be transmitted, but we believe it will be after the Olympic Games, so stay tuned!

Jamie also met video journalist Aurélia Michon at the headquarters of Kinloch Anderson, the foremost experts in Highland dress, in Edinburgh. He chatted about the history of the clans and Deirdre Kinloch Anderson imparted her knowledge of tartan for the travel and discovery programme, Echappées Belles. This will be shown on France and TV5Monde in September.

New Online Videos
After a few technical hitches we have managed to get our Tartan Day video online, taken on Ellis Island, Lord Sempill talks in detail about The Gathering 2009 and its connection with North America. We would like to extend a big thank you to Clan Currie for producing this excellent video for us.

Also online this week is our ‘Be a part of history’ video which showcases some of the performers and supporters of the event to date. If you’d ever wondered why you should get involved with The Gathering 2009 this will explain all.

Go to our Interactive Section to watch the video's.

The Gathering 2009 Taxi
To promote The Gathering 2009 around Edinburgh and the surrounding area we now have The Gathering 2009 taxi on the road…

If you live in and around Edinburgh or you’re just visiting look out for it and if you’re lucky enough to get a ride in it then your taxi driver will be able to tell you all about the event!
